Biography

ELENA
SARTORI Organist and conductor. Born in Ravenna, she studied under the guidance
of Daniel Chorzempa at the Musik Akademie of Basel and the Hochschule Mozarteum
of Salzburg, and with Helmut Rilling at the Bach Akademie of Stuttgart. Having
obtained a diploma in pianoforte, organ and compositions for organ, choral music
and orchestra conduction, in 2008 the magazine Early MusicUSA defined her as
“one of the brightest, most surprising and complete artists in the music scene
of our time”.
Having been Chorus Maestro for performances conducted by Maestros Janos Furst,
Dennis Russell Davies, Riccardo Muti and having worked with directors like
Graham Vick and Denis Krief, Elena Sartori debuted as a conductor in 2004. Since
then, she has been collaborating with the most prestigious music institutions in
Italy and worldwide, including Ravenna Festival, MITO Settembremusica di Torino,
Sagra Musicale Malatestiana di Rimini, Teatro del Vascello in Roma, Festival di
Santarcangelo, CRT di Milano, Festival Barocco di Viterbo, Teatro Comunale di

Her performances are regularly broadcast by BBC, RAI Radio 3, RAI 5, Radio
France and ZD (German radio-television company).
She has recorded CDs for the Tactus, La Bottega Discantica, Bongiovanni labels.
In 2010 she made the first absolute recording of G.B. Pergolesi’s Psalms with
original instruments, published by the magazine AMADEUS. Since 2012 she has been
recording for the German label Arts. Her recordings have won her awards and
nominations at important competitions, such as the Grammophone and Diapason d’Or
prizes, as well as Five Starts both in American and Japanese music reviews.
